Lucky Ducks!

050616 (1)We went for a great walk to the Stone Bridge, hung over the wall and watched the ducks splashing in the water! Lucky Ducks!
Then we headed back to plant nasturtiums and to write in our journals while enjoying Ditty’s avocado hummus with veggies and crackers. We would NOT let her leave until she read us two books. We ALWAYS get what we want ’cause we are SOOO cute!!!

Finding Spring

FindingSpringIn spite of the weather, our mission was to be outdoors, finding spring! Off we marched through the woods, down the Bridle trail, across the footbridge and back, all the while finding spring. We found It thanks to a cheery dandelion.

Back at the day care, some of us painted our bugs from the previous week. Some of us pressed sea shells in a glue which dries clear , to be hung in a sunny window.

Holly made popcorn, we wrote in our Ditty Day journals, and YES I read them a book!!! NAP TIME FOR ME!

Ditty Bugs!

_DittyBugsI have a bit of this and a bit of that, which is a lot of fun to use in art projects. We worked with number stamps, carved wooden blocks used to embellish fabric, and some plaster of Paris molds I had made years ago. We filled the mold with modeling clay, pressed firmly and viola!   The room was soon filled with itty-bitty-bugs made by “Ditty Bugs”.

Beautiful Cardinal

CardinalsI choose to introduce young children to the beauty of life through the process of creating.
I made a picture of a cardinal, presented it to the children, and step-by-step, each child, worked diligently. I am 71 years young and the best part of all is when the room is filled with the sound of silence as the children become totally absorbed and lost in the process of creating.
We are getting there!

Lunch with Two Red-winged Blackbirds

grassytrail

What a great day for a walk! We headed for the bridge by the soccer field where we rested and had a snack of grapes and crackers. We spotted two red-winged blackbirds who were enjoying the day just as much as we were.

All of a sudden the wind “kicked up” and along our merry way we went.
grassytrailwalkAfter reading two books to the kids while they ate their lunches, I did notice a lot of “sleepy little heads”.

Winnie the Pooh Would Approve

We have been so busy indoors with projects. I built and painted houses (12 to be exact; one for each child). Each child then decorated the roof and windows. We set up a village with cars, roads, and yards. The little ones had a great time pretending and creating.

I can hardly wait for spring and to be outdoors. The very first thing we are going to do is take the longest walk ever. I will pack a picnic and we can walk where it is not too muddy underfoot. We will then find a spot, share chitty-chat and our snack. We will reacquaint ourselves with nature. This is a plan that I think Winnie the Pooh would approve of.

For all your support and participation (as if you can escape my requests) thank-you. After all doesn’t everyone deserve A DITTY DAY?
